Book Review: ABC off to sea!

ABC off to sea! by Virginie Morgand

ABC off to sea! by Virginie Morgand - Thames & Hudson

ABC off to Sea is a fun read, a useful educational tool, and a fine choice for any setting’s bookshelf.

As you might expect, each page is dedicated to its own letter of the alphabet but is done so in a smart and skilful way.

The story uses creative rhymes to keep the reader’s attention and makes learning about letters interesting and appealing. There are not just letters to learn about with in the pages but also a select few unfamiliar words and terms that the majority of young children are unlikely to have heard before, making it all the more educational without feeling like a school lesson.

The nautical theme sets a jaunty tone, making the book a highly captivating read, with pirates, mermaids and a myriad of sea animals and ships. Each page is both fun and visually compelling.

The uncomplicated yet charming illustrations along with the eye-catching colour palette ensure that no page will go unturned. Any child’s interest will be piqued by the contrasting visuals and bold images, making it a hit with any age and gender!

The simple idea of exploring letters and phonics is transformed into an exciting journey as you set sail on an alphabetical adventure. We highly recommend this book!
